Wolfgang Horwath

Born 1952 in Eisenstadt, Burgenland.
Wolfgang Horwath has his roots in graphics. In the great varietyy of his work - painting, drawing, set- and space-designing, you can make out graphics as his dominating feature.
His work, either drawing or painting, consists in different layerings, getting depth and three-dimensionality without using perspective. For him drawing means, beside dynamism of stroke, structuring the surface by glueing on, stripping of, tearing up, writing over ... according to the principle of destruction and construction - building and destroying. The use of writing is both o graphic-aesthetic element and a metapher for the contents.
